I would argue that some of the most intriguing questions we can ask start with "why?" It's not necessarily that other words don't make for an interesting line of questioning, but moreso a function of the fact that "why" digs at something deeper. And while it would seem easy enough to fundamentally explain "why" you do something, in all actuality it isn't that simple. The actual motivations and reasons that lie behind "why" are often far more complicated and nuanced than we would ever give them credit for.

The Why I Write assignment set out to uncover some of these deep, underlying motivations. And while it would seem like a fairly straightforward question and answer, this assignment was anything but. There are many reasons for why I write, and it is fair to say that they all serve valid purposes. The trouble comes in explaining the ever-deepening complexity of "why," and this is what made certainly made for a thought-provoking piece.

On the next tab I have the final edit of my Why I Write project. However, with that being said, it is worth noting that this was a fairly labor intensive process. Much like the other projects that I have worked on, this assignment was constantly in a state of evolving thought and development. Below I have included a draft that is indicative of this process, and I hope it helps show just how transformative this process was.
